Symington achieves IWCA Gold Member status
We’re proud to share that we are now Gold Members of International Wineries for Climate Action – a global coalition of wineries taking meaningful, science-based action on climate change.
Gold Membership represents the highest level of commitment within IWCA. It requires consistent reductions in emissions per litre of wine, in line with the pathway to reach net zero by 2050, as well as ensuring that at least 20% of our wineries’ energy comes from renewable on-site production.
As part of our wide-reaching decarbonisation strategy, in 2024 we achieved more than 20% reduction in emissions and saved 900 tonnes of CO₂ through our bottle-weight reduction programme. We also achieved a significant milestone with more than 50% of our total energy now coming from certified renewable sources.
This recognition reflects years of work across our company and attests to our ongoing commitment to reducing emissions, protecting the places we work, and securing the future of winemaking in the Douro region.
