A stunning expression of the Douro, sourced from two of our most prized high-altitude vineyards.

Arinto

A high acidity white grape variety native to Portugal, Arinto contributes freshness and longevity to wines. It often displays citrus and green apple notes with a vibrant minerality. This versatile grape thrives in various regions, adapting well to different climates.

Viosinho

A rare and aromatic Portuguese white grape, Viosinho is known for its floral and stone fruit aromas. It brings structure and complexity, often enhancing blends with its richness. Despite its low yields, it is highly valued for its concentrated flavors.

Códega do Larinho

A lesser-known Portuguese white grape, Códega do Larinho is prized for its balance of acidity and body. It often showcases tropical fruit, citrus, and floral notes, adding character to blends. This variety thrives in the Douro region, where it gains complexity.

Rabigato

A key grape in Portuguese white wine blends, Rabigato is known for its crisp acidity and freshness. It typically offers citrus, green apple, and floral aromas, contributing vibrancy. Common in the Douro region, it helps create wines with structure and aging potential.

Alvarinho

One of Portugal’s most renowned white grape varieties, Alvarinho is celebrated for its intense aromas and complexity. It presents notes of peach, citrus, and tropical fruits, often with a mineral backbone. It produces wines with elegance and aging potential.

Terroir

The unique combination of soil, climate, and geography that influences a wine’s character. Terroir gives wines their distinct sense of place, shaping their flavors and structure. In the Douro, the rugged terrain and schist soils create wines with depth and complexity.

Mineral

A wine descriptor referring to flavors and aromas reminiscent of wet stone, flint, or chalk. Often found in wines from regions with rocky soils, it adds freshness and depth. In white wines, minerality enhances acidity and structure, creating a refined balance.
Since we began our mission to produce great still wines in the Douro, we have been learning how white varieties perform in this unique and challenging terroir. With Pequeno Dilema we believe we are answering the question of whether our region can produce beautiful whites. A fresh and elegant wine, with great poise and character, sourced from two high-lying plots in privileged locations.
